Matthew Stanley

Matthew Stanley is professor of the history of science at New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study. He holds degrees in history, astronomy, physics and religion. His research focuses on the history of physics and astronomy, particularly relativity. He has written for Physics Today, Physics World and the Los Angeles Review of Books, and appeared on the History Channel documentary 'Einstein', the BBC’s 'Science Stories', NPR’s 'On Point' and other media explaining physics to nonscientists. He is also the co-host of the podcast 'What the If?!?', which unpacks difficult science in entertaining weekly conversations.
