Jonathan Silvertown
Jonathan Silvertown is professor of evolutionary ecology in the Institute of Evolutionary Biology at the University of Edinburgh. He is the author of more than 130 academic papers, a successful textbook and five popular science books that have each taken a subject of everyday interest (plants, seeds, life span and ageing, food, humour, society) and shown how evolutionary biology illuminates our understanding in surprising and fascinating ways. He has given many talks for the general public as well as for professional audiences and has been appeared on numerous podcasts and radio programmes including BBC Radio 4’s ‘Start the Week’.
