Frequently asked questions:
Do you consider fiction?
Very rarely, unless there is some special reason why it is particularly suited to our agency – for instance, if it is a thriller featuring scientists or a novel of ideas.
In any event it is unusual for us to take on an author without having read the finished novel. If we are enthusiastic about the initial material we receive, we would want to see the whole novel as soon as possible, so it is best to have that material available before you approach us.
You can then email us the first three chapters or equivalent and a synopsis. The synopsis should not be a pitch or a blurb or a cover-style ‘teaser’ but a simplified explanation of the plot in one or two sides, listing the theme, setting and characters of your book, from the first to final chapter.
